Daily 5

I haven't been doing as good of a job with this as I had planned. Most days I get 2,3,and 5 done but something physical and making school stuff has been harder to get motivated to do. Today changes all that!

1. I did some pushups and squats. Better than nothing!
2. I've cleaned the house (mostly). And I put away all the stuff we acquired this Christmas :)
3. The kids and I have played outside and colored some glow in the dark posters to hang in their room.
4. I've finished an activity for Officer Buckle and Gloria Reading unit coming up. Now on to make more stuff!
5. I've caught up on emails, pinning, and blogging obviously :)

Well I finally finished something this break :). We teach from the Houghton Mifflin Series at our school and the next story is Officer Buckle and Gloria. I made this freebie to help my kids work on their spelling words and 'ar' words.

I plan on making more activities to go with this story so make sure to follow my blog/TpT store for updates. Also if you use the 2nd grade Houghton Mifflin Series please leave me a comment! I would love to see if others still use this :)

Day 2

1. I ran 4 miles with my running buddy before she left for her trip. It's going to be a lot harder to run/workout without her :(

2. We worked on the leaves some more. Still not done but at least the majority of the back yard is visible. Also worked on setting up all the finances for the rest of December and January. We are saving so much $ :)

3. The kids loved playing at the park today. And playing in the leaf piles. I took lots of pictures.

4. Planning a January morning work/small group workbook. I think it will focus on place value and some addition. Got to get a skill progression together.

5. I made the cute Daily 5 picture above. Then I made a Christmas Bundle to purchase at a very big discount! It includes all my Christmas products so please check it out!

Winter Break Is Here!

I'm so excited to finally get a break. However I can't stand not having things to do. Therefore I created a daily goal. I'm calling it my Daily 5 (yes like reading workshop).

Daily 5
Each day do one thing:
1. Physical (running, gym, exercise)
2. For Home (cleaning, de-cluttering, packing)
3. With Kids (academic or fun)
4. For Classroom (making activities, cleaning, organizing)
5. For TpT (blogging, pinning, making stuff)
I actually ended up doing all these today so here is my 1st day of Daily 5.
1. I went running this morning. I've lost so much endurance because I've been slacking, but I will make up for it now!
2. I finally cleaned the back bedroom and put stuff up in storage. Also raked leaves outside. I can finally see some grass!
3. My kids wanted to help clean and we played outside while I raked. I love multi-tasking!!!
4. I did a deep cleaning before I left today. I hope those ants will leave for good.
5. I blogged, pinned, and joined some linkys so I think that's sufficient :)

I plan on doing this almost everyday so I'll make sure to document some of those.

Revision

Well I got some feedback from my 1st sale and realized I didn't put any Christmas type decorations on the student pages of my unit. So I fixed it and here it is new and improved. I like it much better! I will have to separate it into the sections later but here is the whole bundle. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Christmas-2-digit-addition-Bundle-Levels-123-996471

Too Fast!

My Thanksgiving week is going by tooooo fast! I need a slow down button for the time and a speed up button for me. Here are some of my accomplishments for the past 2 days.

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Christmas-2-digit-addition-Bundle-Levels-123-996471
1. I made my 1st Christmas unit for 2 digit addition. It's already made a sale! Here's a link to Teacher's Notebook and TeachersPayTeacher depending on which one you like to use.
2. I've created a Teacher's Notebook store.
3. We've looked at a potential house but decided to look at some others before making a decision. (We are planning on moving soon.)
4. I finally cleaned up a little bit. I've been preoccupied with making stuff :)
5. De-cluttering has begun and is in full swing. Can't wait to get rid of a bunch of stuff. We want to live more of a minimalist lifestyle.

Houghton Mifflin Tests

Well I finally put together all of Theme 3's reading/LA/spelling tests into one nice pdf . I even got fancy and add a cover page with my jungle theme. I can't wait to start working on all the other themes! I hope other teachers can use these as much as our school does. Please leave any suggestions you may have to help me make these the best they can be!

Main Idea and Details

One of the hardest skills to teach 2nd graders, or any young children for that matter, is Main Idea and Details. I created this a few years ago as part of my specialist project. It is a very beginning step in teaching how to determine the main idea of a short passage. I made teacher lesson plans, student printouts, Pre/Post tests, and a big graphic organizer. This unit lasts for 14-16 days. It was made to be a quick 5-10 min mini-lesson to use in your small group instruction but can be also used as whole group.

Here's a link to my Teachers Pay Teachers store. I've just started putting items up so there will be much more to come!

The Beginning

Well this is my first attempt at blogging. I am excited about using this to share some of my creations as well as ideas from teaching and life. I hope you enjoy the site!
